Tasmanian man who caught, tortured seagull in ‘vicious and callous’ act avoids jail




A Tasmanian man who tortured and abused a seagull after deliberately catching it with a fishing hook has been sentenced to six weeks’ jail, suspended for two years.

Connor Joseph Churchill, 22, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated cruelty likely to result in death, disablement or serious deformity and one count of animal cruelty.
