Tasracing will use a six per cent increase in stakes funding from February 1 to lift base stakes in each code. The industry bodies representing the three codes made various recommendations on how the extra money could be spent but at the end of the day Tasracing stuck to the basics. The base stake will rise from $18,500 to $20,000. Age maidens, class 3 races and benchmark 84s will rise from $19,000 to $20,500. Age and open handicap will increase from $20,000 to $21,000….
