Ten Days on the Island woke up to the rhythm of beating drums, singers, dancers and art for mapali – Dawn Gathering on Burnie’s foreshore. The beach turned into a stage for the Welcome to Country, with the palawa creation story boomed out to an audience of 1000 people gathered along both sides of the clearing.
