Geelong will look to turn the tables on Richmond in next Saturday night’s historic Grand Final at the Gabba.

The Cats were comprehensively outplayed in their previous meeting against the Tigers in Round 17, scoring just one goal to three-quarter time in a 26-point loss.

Geelong’s 40-point win over Brisbane in Saturday night’s Preliminary Final has set up a tantalising clash against the reigning premiers in what will be the first all-Victorian Grand Final in nine years.

Speaking to reporters post-game, Cats coach Chris Scott reflected on the Round 17 defeat and the challenges that await his side in the premiership decider.

“It confirmed how good they were,” Scott said.

“I’ve got to be honest,…

How much of Adam Treloar’s wage would Gold Coast be prepared to pay?

Gold Coast is prepared to pay a large portion of Adam Treloar’s Collingwood contract next year, according to former Magpies recruiter Matt Rendell.

Rendell understands the Suns would pay $600,000 of Treloar’s wage and he believes they would happily give up their first-round selection – pick No.5 – in a potential trade for the midfielder.

“I think Gold Coast would (trade pick No.5) in a heartbeat,” Rendell told AFL Trade Radio’s The Late Trade.

“I’m led to believe (Gold Coast) will pay $600,000 of his wage, which is fair enough. We’re hearing he’s on possibly $900,000 for five years.”

Rendell says his former club could lose “credibility” if they look to trade players out who have just…

Former GWS list boss Stephen Silvagni says the Giants would “in the mix” to recruit North Melbourne forward Ben Brown.

The 27-year-old is currently on the lookout for a new club after the Kangaroos put him up for trade, with Melbourne reportedly leading the race to secure his services.

But after Jeremy Cameron walked out of the Giants earlier this month, Silvagni says they would be at the very least be considering making a move for Brown.

“I would think the Giants would be in the mix,” he said on AFL Trade Radio’s The Late Trade.

“The fact that they’re losing Jeremy Cameron, you look at their key forwards there, Harry Himmelberg isn’t particularly tall.

“They have Jeremy Finlayson who is in and…

How Adam Cooney almost became a GWS Giants player

Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney has revealed just how close he came to sealing a sensational move to GWS at the end of 2014.

Before Cooney eventually joined Essendon after leaving the Western Bulldogs, he was courted by the Giants to the point where he was about to head interstate to tour the club’s facilities.

But after teammate Ryan Griffen became available in the same trade period, the offer was suddenly withdrawn.

“I had a conversation with Leon Cameron (about a move to GWS),” he said on AFL Trade Radio’s Trade Afternoons.

“He was my midfield coach for many years at the Dogs so I had a pretty good relationship with him and he called again when he heard that I was looking for a new club.

“He was very…
